EMAG 2025 - Cardiff (Wales)
“Come join us in Cardiff for 2025’s European Mensa Annual Gathering (EMAG), an international gathering of Mensans in a city of castles, culture, and more!
The event takes place from August 6-10, 2025. Cardiff is easily accessible by transport, including airports (with cheap flights) in Cardiff, Bristol and London, and trains from London and Bristol.
Mensa originated in the UK in 1946. Now British Mensa is hosting EMAG for the first time, giving international members the chance to experience the country with local guides.
Cardiff, the capital of Wales, is a vibrant, accessible city that blends the ancient and modern. Attendees will have the chance to tour castles, an old coal mine, the Royal Mint, and the BBC, including a behind-the-scenes look into Doctor Who. There will be a murder mystery and a games room with over 100 games and tournaments. Experience local food and drink at breweries and markets, and enjoy Wales’ famous music scene with harp concerts, karaoke, and discos. Let’s not forget the talks, parties, and other opportunities to mingle!
Uniquely, this year’s EMAG offers a pre-tour and a post-tour. Both start and end in London. The pre-tour, beginning on August 3, includes four days of travel through Oxford, Stonehenge, Salisbury, and Bath. Tour and dine at Oxford College, see the architectural marvels of Stonehenge and the Salisbury Cathedral, and take in historic Roman baths.
The five-day post-tour, starting on August 10, takes attendees on a scenic tour through Wales. Highlights include Snowdonia National Park, the Welsh Highland Railway, the town with the longest place name in Europe, the Italian-style village of Portmeirion, and the imposing Caernarfon Castle. Bookings for both the pre-tour and the post-tour must be made before the end of the year.
